1950s Slingerland RadioKing in White Marine Pearl - 14x22, 9x13, 16x16

An interesting player's kit consisting of Slingerland shells from the 1940's & 50's. All three are slightly different, but still 3ply Mahogany with maple reinforcement rings. The White Marine Pearl finish has faded to match pretty well across the drums. They have recently been cleaned and are ready too be played! 

14 x 22 - This is the most modern of the bunch, a late 50's shell that is sporting older hardware. You can actually see the fade marks from the original lugs before they were swapped with the Beavertail. Features 20x Beavertail lugs, 20x RadioKing era Claws & T rods (mostly nickel, but a few chrome T-rods), 2x vintage hoops that have been repainted black with matching faded white marine pearl inlay, 2x 50's style telescopic spur mounts & spurs, and a telescopic cymbal mount on top. At some point someone actually added 3x Ludwig mounts onto this drum to be able to stand it up like a floor tom. The holes remain if that is something you desire to do. The finish is clearly heavily faded, and not perfectly evenly either, but it remains stable and is not cracking. It has been polished, so it is smooth and clean. The seams are tight, and the bearing edges are clean. The nickel hardware has seen better days, with most of the playing totally gone from the claws, with light rusts throughout. They have been given a chemical bath to await further rusting. That said the lugs have been lubed and new washers installed so still tunes up smoothly! 

9 x 13 - This drum is older, 1940's more than likely. The mahogany shell features the fat maple reinforcement rings. This drum features 12x Nickel plated Cigar type lugs, 12x mismatched tension rods, and 2x hoops (batter is 60's Style Slingerland Sticksaver, resonant is standard triple flange), the left over remains of the muffler, and the original holes for the tom mount. The bearing edges have been better days with some evidence of the middle plies have been made brittle and eaten away. That said they are flat, and the rering supports the head well and the drum does tune up. The finish is pretty evenly faded. It has been polished so it is overall smooth and clean. The nickel lugs have been cleaned, but show their age. Chrome hoops and tension rods are pretty clean overall with nominal tarnish/corrosion. 

16 x 16 - This is also an older shell, likely early 50's, and sports a mahogany shell with standard sizes reinforcement rings. Hardware includes 16x Beavertail nickel plated lugs, 16x mix-matched tension rods, 2x chrome hoops (Slingerland Sticksaver batter/Triple flanged resonant), the remains of the muffler, and 3x nickel leg mounts &* legs. This drum was suffering from some shell delamination around the seam that has been repaired, but still shows evidence of the 3ply 'hump'. Finish is similar to that of the mounted tom - faded, but polished and clean. The hardware is in various states of condition - the leg mounts have mostly lost their nickel plating and rust (unfortunately very common), while the lugs are in decent shape for their age, and the chrome hoops and tension rods are clean.
