For being the tool of choice for most of the heavy hitters at the time (Bonham, Appice, Bruford, Mitch Mitchell, Ringo, Don Henley, etc.) these 3 ply Maple Thermogloss are actually quite hard to find. While the finish is very cool, the really special element is the shell composition - 3 ply Maple/Poplar/Maple (unlike 90% of the other Ludwigs that have a ply of Mahogany). That gives these drums are slightly harder, more pronounced tone and clear attack. This drum has been restored - and is a refinish of the original Thermogloss and looks great. No extra holes and original hardware. No date stamp. Badges looks original with 9xxxxxx serial number. The original grommet was reused and shows signs of having been removed and reinstalled. Features 16x large lugs, 16x correct tension rods, 2x original triple flanged hoops, 3x classic leg mounts & original legs, and muffler. Drum is pretty clean with some minor pitting on and corrosion in the hoops and legs. Refinish is looking pretty nice all around.
