1970s Ludwig Vistalite Pattern C in Red/Clear - 14x22, 9x13ct, 10x14ct, 12x15ct, 14x16ct, 16x16
An absolute stunner of a kit in excellent overall condition! Sizes don't exactly align with any catalogued outfit, but serial numbers are all close enough that this appears to have likely been a custom order.
14x22 - Serial No. 1334519 - Badge is extremely clean and secure to the shell. This shell shows the most scratches, nicks and scuffs but is still in overall excellent condition. 20x original classic lugs are clean with just a little bit of pitting. Lug gaskets are all there. 20x original claws and tension rods have a little bit of haze throughout, but no rust or other corrosion. Original curved spurs and brackets. Center tom mount is Ludwig but a slightly later era mount. Resonant-side hoop is original with original inlay. Batter side hoop is not original and appears to have been repainted at some point, as there are a few paint smudges along the red inlay (which is a decent match to the original, but not perfect).
9x13ct - Serial No. 1334012 - The badge on this one has one corner that was lifted and folded at some point. There are some light scratches around the shell as well as a tiny bit of rash by the seam. There are a couple of spots on the shell where the acrylic is ever so slightly hazy, but it is subtle and would likely polish out. No cracks or spiderwebbing anywhere. 6x original mini classic lugs are clean, with a few very small scratches and the slightest bit of pitting on a few. Lug gaskets are all present. 6x original tension rods and original clip mounting bracket. Original hoop has one tiny flake of chrome missing but is otherwise very clean.
10x14ct - Serial No. 1334619 - Badge is secure to the drum, but has a little bit of scratching on it. Shell shows no cracks or spiderwebbing. There is a light, hazy ring on the inside of the shell, likely from a smaller drum being stored inside of it long-term. 6x original mini classic lugs are overall very clean, with a few showing the earliest signs of some pitting. Lug gaskets are all there. A few of the tension rods appear to not be original. Original clip mounting bracket. Hoop is a replacement and is very clean.
12x15ct - Serial No. 1334432 - Badge is clean and secure to the shell. Shell is in very good shape, with just some very faint scratches to speak of. No cracks or spiderwebbing. 8x original mini classic lugs are very clean, just some very light pitting here and there, and the lug to the right of the badge shows one small scuff. Lug gaskets are all there. 8x tension rods all match but may not be original to the drum. Original hoop is clean with just a couple little scratches. Original clip mounting bracket.
14x16ct - Serial No. 1334433 - Badge is clean and secure to shell. Shell is in good shape, with mostly just a handful of light, wispy scratches and a nick or two. There is one panel with two more substantial scratches but neither are deep. No cracks or spiderwebbing. 8x original mini classic lugs are very clean, with just the slightest bit of pitting in spots. Lug gaskets are all there. 8x original tension rods. Original clip mounting bracket. Original hoop is ever so slightly hazy it places and has two very small spots where chrome has flaked off.
16x16 - Serial No. 1354059 - The only two-headed tom of the bunch! Badge is secure to shell but is just a little beat up on the top edge. Shell has some light wispy scratches and a couple small scuffs but is overall extremely clean. The panel to the right of the seam shows the most scratches. There is one single 1/2" crack just above the seam of the bottom spiral that is completely internal and does not appear to be structurally significant. No spiderwebbing. 16x original classic lugs are very clean, with just some light pitting here and there. Lug gaskets and leg bracket gaskets are all there. Original floor tom brackets and legs are clean, even the feet are still there! Internal muffler is present and functions well. Hoops are both Ludwig and clean, but do not match, the top being 2.3mm and the bottom 1.6mm.
